Finally after a long ride we reached the southern island Kyushu! The northern tip of the island is separated from Honshu only by the narrow Kanmon Straits … less then a kilometre wide in parts. My heartbeat got stronger hoping to find one of the purposes of my trip … waves.

But before that I explored the stunning landscape of Kyushu.

Yep 3.750 hot springs in one village!!! no joke. That’s Beppu the village with the highest dense of hot springs in Japan. It is sizzling & boiling everywhere. Because of all the sulphur the town smells like rotten eggs. But after a while you get use to it and I even started to like it.

Apropos eggs, eat some boiled ones straight from the ‘boiling hells’ spring. The water is so ‘atsui’ *HOT that they dunk a little bamboo basket into the spring to boil eggs. Hmmm never had such fancy breakfast eggs before & I have to say they where delicious.
